Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s classic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Adelaide at Her Majesty’s Theatre from Oct 22 for 14 shows only.
The ever popular rock opera will be helmed by the award winning production team of emerging director David Lampard, musical director Ross Curtis and Associate Director Sharon Angove.
In the title role in this thrilling new production is international touring artist Luke Kennedy (once part of the acclaimed Ten Tenors). Also featured are Danny Lopresto, lead singer of local hit local band Clearway, as Judas, and Australian Idol finalist Sarah Lloyde as Mary – plus a cast of Adelaide’s finest performers.
These are the last seven days of Jesus' life – as viewed through the eyes of the apostle, Judas Iscariot. Tracing personal conflict and political intrigue, we travel with Jesus as he and his disciples prepare to ride into Jerusalem until his final moments alone on the cross.
Part proceeds will support the work of our Community Partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
This brand new production features a breath-taking updated score, and with an epic set and stunning costumes to match, this promises to be the spectacular rock opera experience of the year.
