Megan brings over 22 years of experience as a performer and producer in Adelaide’s theatre community to her role as President of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of South Australia. Joining the Society in 2002, Megan has worn many hats, from taking lead and chorus roles onstage to serving as Board Member and Secretary, making her an invaluable part of the Society’s growth and artistic direction.

She began her formal training with classical music studies at the University of Adelaide before shifting to a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theatre at the University of Ballarat. After completing her degree, Megan returned to Adelaide, deciding to focus her talents on local cabaret and community theatre instead of pursuing a career in commercial music theatre. This allowed her to cultivate a wide-ranging career within Adelaide’s diverse performing arts scene, including both paid and creative ventures.

Some of Megan’s most beloved roles include Laurey in Oklahoma!, Petra in A Little Night Music, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, and Rose Hervey in Tarantara! Tarantara! for the G&S Society; Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady with The Met; Maria in The Sound of Music with Emma Knights Productions; and Giuseppe Zangara in Sondheim’s Assassins for The Hills Musical Company. She has also been a committed performer with Emma Knights Productions, appearing in multiple roles in The Pirates of Penzance, reprising Josephine in HMS Pinafore, and taking on soprano roles in the opera Space Encounters.

Megan’s work has also expanded into directing and producing. At the Adelaide Fringe, she directed popular shows like Buffy Kills Edward – A Musical Romp and I Love You Because. Since 2012, she has developed and performed in a number of original solo shows across Australia and the UK, including The Good Girls’ Guide to Rock, created in collaboration with Verity Colyer.

After a stint in the UK in 2015 and 2016, Megan returned to Adelaide, continuing to pursue both paid roles and personal creative projects that showcase her love for theatre. She also runs a private vocal coaching studio in St Marys, sharing her expertise in singing and performance with emerging talent.

In addition to her performing arts career, Megan works in administration for the non-government mental health sector. She is keen to bring her organisational skills to the Society at a governance level, ensuring the Society’s administrative foundation is robust and supportive of its creative vision. Megan’s leadership aims to foster a thriving, inclusive environment for the Society’s artistic endeavours to flourish.

Ric has loved G&S for as long as he can remember, growing up with old 78s of the D’Oyly Carte Company passed on by elderly relatives. He couldn’t wait to be on the stage, which he achieved at the age of 17 playing Robin Oakapple in Ruddigore. Since then, he has played all the G&S patter roles (except the Grand Duke, because nobody has staged it!), most of them multiple times, as well as several of the G&S baritone roles. He still blanches at the memory of opening as King Paramount in Utopia, Limited on four rehearsals when the person originally cast took ill.

Ric has been part of the Society since 1975. In that time, he has played many roles in Society productions and holds the record for the number of Society productions he has directed. He has also been on the Board for more than 40 years, an Honorary Life Member since 1996, and the Society’s longest-serving Vice-President.

Ric has also directed and played roles for most of the Adelaide companies over the years, and for some years taught stagecraft, gave master classes and directed productions for the Elder Conservatorium classical vocal programme.

Favourite G&S Society memories include his first production as director (Princess Ida, 1981), touring the joint G&S Society/Co*Opera production of The Mikado in 2016, his most recent directing role (Oklahoma! 2024), playing Max in The Sound of Music (2014), a show he’d always said he never wanted to be in, and playing a Demon in Jesus Christ, Superstar (2010).
He also has proud memories of the George Street Company, the Society’s young artists ensemble, which he directed in the 1990s.

Ric also had a long career as a psychologist/mediator and administrator.

Alicia has been an active member of the G&S Society since 2008. In this time, she has had various roles from assistant stage manager, production assistant, production manager, crew and lighting operator and has enjoyed the variety this has brought into her life.

Alicia’s love of musical theatre started at a young age, from watching live amateur and professional shows to watching classic movies over and over again.

Whilst she has tried the on-stage life, she much prefers being behind the scenes and watching what is the machine of theatre come to life through all the different facets.

Alicia looks forward in continuing her role as Secretary, and what the future holds for the Society.

Paula has always loved singing, beginning at a very young age. She has gained experience in her Church Choir, several Festival of Arts Combined Choirs and The Woodville Concert Choir.

Paula joined the G&S Society in 1981 and enjoyed many years of performing two shows a year, and a short time as Social Co-ordinator, before taking on the role of Ticket Secretary in 2001– a role she has found very fulfilling and hopes to continue for some time to come.

With a lifelong love for musical theatre, Shivawn pursued formal training in singing, dance, and acting from an early age. Her passion led her to the stage, including performing with Mighty Good Talent School.

Her involvement The G&S Society of South Australia began in 2021 when she joined as a cast member in EVITA!, and she has since been an integral part of the Society’s productions and operations. She took on key roles, including Production Manager for Tarantara! Tarantara! (2022) and Oklahoma! (2024), as well as cast member in A Chorus Line (2023) and Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical (2023).
Her dedication to the Society saw her formally elected to the Board in 2023, where she has overseen show marketing.

Shivawn has a professional background in marketing and communications, currently working as a Brand and Marketing Senior Advisor within the Government Advertising and Insights Hub at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Government of South Australia. She previously worked for Adelaide Festival Centre, overseeing marketing for OzAsia Festival.

Bronte has always loved musical theatre from the time he saw Big River as a 10-year-old.

After many school productions and a brief on stage role with Bridge Players and Singers at the turn of the millennium, Bronte started working with The G&S Society backstage on 2018’s A Little Night Music.

Since that time he has been a regular part of the backstage crew, before stepping up to join the cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert in 2023 and Stage Manage Oklahoma for the Society in 2024.

Bronte joined the G&S Board in 2024 and looks forward to see what is next for the Society
